Basic Life Support (CPR & Defibrillator Training) Courses in Cardiff

More than 200 cardiac arrests occur in the UK each day, and they can happen to anyone, anywhere. Early CPR plays a vital role in sustaining life, but rapid access to and correct use of a defibrillator is often what makes the decisive difference.

This course focuses on building confidence in delivering effective CPR and using a defibrillator safely and correctly in an emergency. The training is 3 hours in duration, and on successful completion you will receive a certificate valid for 1 year.

What This Course Covers

A sound understanding of basic first aid and core life-saving techniques can make a critical difference in an emergency.

This Basic Life Support course equips you with the skills and confidence to respond effectively when an emergency occurs, providing essential care to a casualty until professional help arrives. The course also includes training in the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and is delivered in line with the latest Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.

AEDs are proven to significantly improve survival rates and are increasingly recognised as an essential part of workplace health and safety provision. They are also commonly located in public spaces such as shopping centres, leisure facilities, and petrol stations.

Our CPR and Defibrillator training teaches participants how to deliver effective CPR and operate an AED with confidence. No previous first aid experience is required.

If you would like to build on these skills, our Emergency First Aid at Work course includes CPR and AED training alongside a wider range of first aid topics.

Qualification

The Basic Life Support (BLS) qualification is valid for 1 year from the date of completion. To maintain your certification, you are required to complete another Basic Life Support course, which consists of a further three hours of training.

The BLS qualification is a nationally recognised and accredited award. At First Aid Cardiff, we exceed the minimum standards required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for first aid training providers.
To learn more about how we meet and surpass these standards, please click here.
For further information on the HSE’s guidance for selecting a first aid training provider, please click here.

Since 2013, the HSE has removed the requirement for first aid qualifications to be externally regulated. That said, certain high-risk or specialist workplaces may still require externally regulated qualifications. If this applies to your organisation, please inform us prior to booking and we will be happy to offer guidance on the most appropriate option.
