What This Course Covers

UK health and safety legislation requires employers to provide a safe working environment for their staff. Where a workplace risk assessment identifies the need for trained first aiders, the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification meets the requirements set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is a comprehensive one-day programme covering a wide range of common first aid emergencies. It is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond quickly, safely and effectively when an incident occurs.

Successful completion of the course results in an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification that exceeds the minimum standards of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Assessment takes place throughout the day through practical, hands-on scenarios in a supportive and relaxed environment. There is no formal exam, and trainers will spend additional time on any techniques or topics as needed to ensure all participants feel confident and competent by the end of the course.

Qualification

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is valid for three years from the date of completion. To maintain your certification, you are required to complete another Emergency First Aid at Work course, which consists of a further six hours of training.

The EFAW qualification is a nationally recognised and accredited award. At First Aid Cardiff, we exceed the minimum standards required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for first aid training providers.

In 2013, the HSE deregulated the first aid training sector. Because of this we no longer offer externally regulated courses. However, there are still some older organisations that may request this. If this applies to you, please contact us prior to booking for more information as we cannot retroactively provide you with a regulated qualification.

Private Groups

All of our first aid courses can be delivered as private group training, either at your own venue or at one of our dedicated training centres.
